Mangalore, Jan 17: Activists of Student Federation of India (SFI) staged protest on Friday in front of deputy commissioner's office, Mangalore against increasing crime against women in district.
District president of SFI Nithin Kuttar addressing the protesters said that failure in curbing exploitation of women, rape and other crimes indicates that district-in-charge minister lacking the efficiency in his administration, he said.
City president of DYFI B K Imtiyaz said that the ongoing attempt to turn the issue of crimes against women into a communal conflict is condemnable. He pressed for early trial in all such cases and awarding of stringent punishment to those found guilty.
District secretary of SSF Charan Shetty, secretary of Mangalore city unit Ajay, city unit president Santhosh Dsouza, women's wing leader Madhuri, Mayuri, Swati and others took part in protest meet.
