Shahrukh-Kajol's 'Dilwale' earns Rs 150 cr even before its release

Mumbai, Aug 14: Unlike other blockbusters and big-banner films which mint money only after their release, the much-awaited Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer ‘Dilwale’ has earned a whooping Rs 150 crore even before hitting the theatres.

Wondering how? Well, Shah Rukh's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment (RCE) which is co-producing the film with Rohit Shetty Productions, has sold the rights of the film to various distributors for Rs. 130 crore, according to a media report.

At the same time, the overseas sales has been estimated to be around Rs. 40-50 crore. So, after summing up the sales, 'Dilwale' earns Rs 170 crore.

Now, Sony has paid Rs. 15-20 crore to RCE for acquiring the music rights of the film. Adding it, the total goes up to Rs.180 crore.

From Satellite and TV rights, the expected revenue is Rs. 45 crore, which now takes the total earning to Rs 225 crore.

The production budget of the film is Rs 75 crore. On, subtracting the production cost from the revenue generated, the net earning amounts to Rs 150 crore.

So, undoubtedly, 'Dilwale' has started doing business even before its release.
