Mangaluru, Jul 16: The Shawwal moon has not been sighted in coastal Karnataka and neighboring district, thus Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on Saturday, July 18, according to prominent Khazis of Mangaluru, Udupi and Ullal.
Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, the Khazi of Mangaluru, told Coastaldigest.com that due to the lack of evidence regarding the sighting the new moon this evening Eid-ul-Fitr would be on Saturday.
“Friday (July 17) will be the 30th day of Ramadan 1436 H and Saturday (July 18) will be the first day of Shawaal, as well as Eid-ul-Fitr”, he announced.
Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, the Khazi of Udupi, and Fazal Koyamma Thangal Al Bukhari Koora, the Khazi of Ullal also have confirmed that Muslims in the region will be completing 30th day of fasting on Friday and celebrating Eid on Saturday.
