South Africa move up to 4th in ICC ODI rankings after series win in Sri Lanka

Hambantota,/Sri Lanka, July 13: South Africa has made upward movement in their International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings after their first series win in Sri Lanka. They had come into the series on the fifth position with 109 rating points, but are now ranked fourth with 111 rating points. Hashim Amla and Ryan McLaren too have moved up the rankings thanks to their great performance in the series, with Amla now ranked 2nd in ICC Player Rankings for Batsman and McLaren ranked 10th in ICC Player Rankings for Bowlers. South Africa won the series 2-1, registering a comfortable 82-run win in the third and final ODI of the series.

South Africa is now just four rating points behind No. 1 ranked Australia, and just one rating point behind No. 2 ranked India. They now have 17 more ODIs to play before they start their ICC World Cup 2015 campaign, and will look to move further up the rankings in the meanwhile.

Jacques Kallis, Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy slipped down the batting charts, with Duminy falling seven places to 29th, Kallis falling four places to 40th and du Plessis falling three places to 54th.
