Speaking to reporters on his visit to the first transport hub of South India at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) premises on Monday, he said that statutory approvals like authorisation of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), Ministry of Environment and Forest, State Pollution Control Board, labour licence and factory approvals are in place.
Pipeline
The length of the proposed LPG pipeline, he said is approximately 362 km and the project cost is estimated at Rs 701 crore. The project of providing spur line from Hassan to Mysore is scheduled to be completed by November 2015, he said.
The advantage of this pipeline is that once it is laid and commissioned, it is expected to cut down 50 per cent of LPG tanker movement on Mangalore-Bangalore National Highway.
Land acquisition
The possession of 2.47 acre land for receiving station at Mysore and 9.93 acre land for intermediate station at Hassan have been completed. Land acquisition process at Neriya in Belthangady taluk for IP station is in progress.
Transportation hub
South India's first transportation hub intended to cater to the needs of transportation crew is expected to be inaugurated in January, 2014. The foundation for this work was laid in March 2012, at HPCL Mangalore LPG Import facility premises.
The highlight of the hub is that it will provide facilities like dormitories (60 drivers, helpers), medical rooms with doctors available for two hours per day, book room, yoga/gym, bakery and convenience store and ATM kiosk.
The project has been taken up at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore in Mangalore on pilot basis.
Mr Moily said that the facility will be extended to other places in future based on the success of this project and as per need.
He said that the Ministry will also direct all the petroleum companies to set up transport hubs.
No ban on Areca
Clarifying that there is no such proposal before the Union Ministry for Health of banning areca, Mr Moily said that Union Minister for Health Gulam Nabi Azad has said that there is no need to worry or agitate over the matter. He said that the uproar was possibly created over the outcome of a scientific research.
Contesting from Chikballapur
Stating that he is all set to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Chikballapur, Mr Moily rubbished the rumours of him trying to launch his son Harsha Moily's political career during this elections.
“He has been working for the party since 1980. I am not recommending or promoting him. It is left up to the party to decide if he should be fielded or not,” said Mr Moily.
Charge of Environment
When asked about the additional charge of Environment Ministry that has been handed over to him by his predecessor Jayanthi Natarajan, Moily said that she has done a great job and he will only try to carry forward her good work.
