Mangalore, Feb 5: Department of Information, Dakshina Kannada will organise a sound-light visual mega-show spreading the message of 'Manushya Jati Thanonde Valam' on Friday at Nehru Maidan here at 7 p.m., said DK district publicity officer B A Khader Shah.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the intention of the sound and light show was to contribute towards eradicating the existing caste system.
Around 150 artistes belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes will take part in the show directed by noted theatre personality C Basavalingaiah.
The programme is being held under special component programme for Scheduled Caste and Tribal Sub Plan, he said.
He said that the sound-light show held in 2009 had won accolades in Mangalore, and encouraged by this, the department had decided to host a series of shows in Bangalore and few other districts of the state.
He said that the show was inaugurated by chief minister Siddaramaiah in Bangalore on Sunday. The series of shows will be held in Mysore, Madikeri, Chikmagalur, Udupi, Karwar, Belgaum, Bijapur and three other districts, he said.
