Mangalore, Nov 26: Condemning the CPI(M) for allegedly maligning the holy place of Dharmasthala Kshetra, Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Tuesday welcomed CBI probe in Soujanya rape and murder case that occurred over a year ago in Belthangady taluk.
Briefing mediapersons at a press conference here on Tuesday, Ramesh K, secretary of ABVP state unit said that ABVP welcomed CBI probe recommended in rape and murder case of Soujanya, a II PU student of SDM College, Ujire, who was found murdered on October 9, 2012.
Condemning the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for allegedly trying to malign the name of Dharmasthala, he said that the party had lost its existence in the district and was trying to gain political mileage by raising some issues. Although the party acts as though they are with the residents living in naxal-infested areas, in reality CPI(M) has been supporting naxalites, he asserted.
He alleged that both CPI(M) and PFI were falsely trying to malign the name of Dr Veerendra Heggade, while keeping mum when terrorists were arrested in Mangalore.
Speaking on the case of student Akshatha's unnatural death in Mangalore, he said that the Adyar police had been unable to track the culprits. Investigation is being delayed in this case and the police should immediately speed up the investigation, he urged.
