Bangalore, Feb 19: A speeding ambulance rushing in one-way carrying a patient mowed down a 26-year-old youth near Bharath Junction, on JC Road, in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Amjad, owner of a meat shop in Kumbarpet. He was married a couple of months ago, police said.
At around 12:30 am, Amjad, a resident of Siddapura, along with his friend, Imran, 26, was on the way to Kalasipalyam for tea, after attending a function in Sarakki, when the '108' ambulance hit their bike near Bharath Junction, injuring both Amjad and Imran. Amjad sustained head injuries while Imran escaped with minor injuries, the City Market Traffic Police said.
Amjad was rushed to Victoria Hospital but, was declared brought dead while Imran was given first aid. Following the accident, the patient being ferried in the ambulance was shifted to another vehicle. The driver was summoned to the police station.
