Mangaluru, Jul 31: Since past 40 years many efforts have been done for the all-round development of the women. As a result a conducive atmosphere for their expression has been developed. During mythological times superbly educated women called Brahmavadinis guided the society. But later because of attacks and expeditions of outsiders protecting women became more important than educating them. But lately the time has come where women can attain expertise in the fields of their interest. Now women are direct stakeholders in the progress of the world, said Dr Asha Jyothi Rai, Ayurveda Practitioner and Social Women Activist.

She was addressing the students and staff of Besant Women’s College during the inauguration of Students’ Council for this year. Dr Rai said  it is ironical that, the educated women are the ones who are enslaved by different addictions.  The empowerment is often misunderstood as imitating men.  Women can take her decisions with the embedded beauty in her personality to make a meaningful world around.  The colleges must kindle the spirit of leadership in students that helps them to serve the world they belong to in their future, she opined.
