Second spell of rain in four days brings respite from heat
The district got a respite from the sweltering heat with a second spell of summer rain on Monday.
The rain, accompanied by lightning, brought down the sultry day temperature and came as a relief to water-scarcity regions.
Areca nut farmers
The rain was moderate in the coastal belt and heavy in the eastern hilly hamlets. The second spell of summer shower, however, brought hardship to those who had spread out areca nut for drying. The abrupt rain soaked the dried up areca nut and could lead to poor demand for the crop, sources said.
