Sunil Jain appointed as new Indian ambassador to Kuwait

Kuwait City, Sep 2: Sunil Jain (IFS: 1981) currently Ambassador of India, Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the State of Kuwait.

He is expected to take up his assignment shortly.

After graduating from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Mr. Sunil Jain joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1981. As a career diplomat he has served earlier at Venezuela, Myanmar, Japan, Kazakhstan and USA. He has also served as Director in the Prime Minister's Office, New Delhi and head of Multilateral Economic Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.

Mr. Jain was the head of International Cooperation Division for three years in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, New Delhi before taking the present assignment as the Ambassador of India in Turkmenistan in December 2010. He is closely involved in implementation of TAPI gas pipeline project.

Mr. Jain holds Master's degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, Princeton, USA.
