Bantwal, Jan 14: According to a complaint registered in Bantwal Rural police station on Monday, suspected members of a saffron group barged into the house of a pick-up truck driver, allegedly assaulted his family members and threatened them.
When Damodar, a resident of Kenjilapadavu in Ira village, was washing his pick-up truck on Sunday evening, six suspected Bajrang Dal members arrived at his house on motorcycles and threatened his family members.
In his complaint, Damodar alleged that the accused Ranjan Sapalya (40), Ashok Belchada (35), Dinesh Belchada (30) and three others barged into his house and demanded to know if he had been stealthily supplying cattle to Muslims at night.
Not only did the gang members threaten him, they also attempted to assault his wife Usha and son Sharan Kumar along with threatening them.
One of the gang members threatened Damodar over the phone on Monday, not to inform the police about the previous incident or they would finish him within the next three days. The accused also threatened him by stating that he had police connections in Pandeshwar and Bantwal stations, Damodar has stated in the complaint.
Police are investigating the case.
