Bengaluru, Nov 3: They are contesting in the election to test their political fortune but had no voting right – this is one of the highlights of polling held for byelection to five seats, including three Lok Sabha and two Assembly, in Karnataka on Saturday.
While Congress leader V S Ugrappa is contesting against BJP candidate J Shantha, sister of former Minister B Sriramulu, for Bellari Lok Sabha seat, but has no voting right since he is a registered as voter in Bengaluru.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's wife Anita Kumaraswamy is contesting for Ramanagara Assembly seat but since she is registered voter in Kethamaranahalli in Magadi taluk, Ramanagara District she has no voting right as it is outside the Assembly limits.
Former Karnataka Minister and Mining Baron Gali Janardhana Reddy did not exercise his vote since he was barred from entering Bellari city from where Ms Shantha is contesting for Lok Sabha seat.
According to one of the bail condition by the Supreme Court, Mr Reddy was not allowed to visit Bellari. Mr Reddy is facing illegal iron ore mining case filed by CBI against him.
