Mudigere, Jul 31: After the post-mortem examination in Mangaluru, the mortal remains of the Cafe Coffee Day founder V G Siddhartha was taken to Mudigere in Chkkamagaluru district where thousands of people paid their final homage to the departed Coffee king.
The body of Siddhartha, son-in-law of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna, was found on the banks of Netravati river near Hoige Bazaar in Mangaluru on early morning Wednesday, around 35 hours after he allegedly jumped off the Netravai bridge unable to tolerate the harassment by Income Tax department.
The final rites of 58-year-old entrepreneur are expected to be conducted at about 6.30 PM today, in his native village Cheekanahalli, at the Chetanhalli estatein Belur taluk near Chikkamagalur.
Siddhartha's wife Malvika who was in her SM Krishna's residence in Bengaluru flew to Mangaluru and then headed to Mudigere along with the mortal remains.
Earlier in the day, the post-mortem was held at Wenlock Hospital here. The hospital Superintendent Dr Rajeshwari Devi said, "The standard post-mortem examination timing is two hours or more. As per the request of police, our two specialists -- one professor of forensic medicine and senior specialist of forensic medicine did the post-mortem examination."
