Mangaluru, Nov 26: The Karnataka government has announced Rs 50 lakh grant to the Vishwa Tuluvere Parba, the three day global Tulu festival to be held from December 12 to 14 on the premises of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management at Adyar on the outskirts of the city.
Announcing this at a preparatory meeting for the festival in the city, Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said that Chief Minister was likely to attend the valedictory of the festival on December 14.

Mr Rai instructed Health Officer of Mangalore City Corporation Manjaiah Shetty to take care of sanitation works for the festival and instructed other government department officials to extend all cooperation for the success of the festival.
A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, said that the Department of Information and Public Relations could use its 10 hoardings in the city to publicise the coming festival. He instructed a muzrai official to ensure that temples in the district gave rice required for mass feeding. According to the committee, 100 quintals of rice would be required.
More than 20 teams were expected to participate in cultural competitions. The cultural competitions would also reflect the richness of Beary and Konkani communities. There would be separate competitions for college students to make them aware of the need to take forward Tulu and its culture to the future generation.
A food festival with local flavours would be an added attraction at the festival. There would also be an exhibition featuring different products.
Mr Rai earlier appealed to all people in Tulu Nadu to consider the festival as their own and participate in large numbers. People could give “pundi panavu” (donate fund) to the festival. The committee was requesting each person to donate Rs 100 each for the success of the festival. Mr Rai said the Tulu Koota was born in Mangalore in 1969-70. It organised Akhila Bharata Tulu Sammelana in Mulki in 1989. The first Vishwa Tulu Sammelana was held for three days in the town hall here in 1994. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, presided over it. The then Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily, who attended the sammelana, announced the formation of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.
