Abu Dhabi, Apr 15: The United Arab Emirates, UAE, has voiced its deep concern at the escalating developments in the Syrian arena and expressed its condemnation of the use of chemical weapons against civilians.
The UAE also expressed its support to all international measures which aim to remove and destroy such internationally - prohibited weapons and stressed the need to prevent these weapons from falling into the hands of armed terrorist groups in the conflict areas.
In this context, the UAE also expressed its support to the military operations that targeted the prohibited weapons and their facilities in Syria.
A statement issued today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations said:
"The United Arab Emirates sees that political solution is the foundation for addressing the Syrian crisis and for ending the suffering and violence there, on the basis of relevant international legitimacy resolutions, particularly the Security Council Resolution 2254 and the Geneva I Communique."
Other than that, the statement continued, the UAE believes that the crisis will continue to pose serious dangers to Syria's unity, and lead to growing casualties.
"At the same time, the UAE reiterates that it is a necessity to have an active Arab role in the political endeavours to find a political solution," the statement concluded.
