Udupi, Oct 30: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday came down heavily on Bharatiya Janata Party for “misleading people of coastal Karnataka in the name of ‘dharma’ and attempting to turn region into a hotbed of communal politics”.
He was addressing an election rally for the forthcoming Shivamogga by-elections, at Trasi in Kundapur taluk which falls under Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency.
The CM said that people in coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada should be extra-cautious about BJP as it doesn’t miss any opportunity to mislead and divide people on communal lines.
“BJP is not protecting Hinduism. It is doing absolutely disgusting things like creating communal divide and promoting enmity and hatred. From Ullal to Karwar, BJP is indulging in hate campaign to make the coastal region a hotbed of communal politics,” he said.
Questioning whether BJP has taken contract of Hinduism, the Vokkaliga stalwart said if there was any harm caused to Hindu religion it would be he along with people that would save “dharma.”
“No doubt, you (people of coastal Karnataka) are brilliant people. But BJP leaders are cunning. They have mastered the art of fooling, misleading and dividing people of the country,” he said.
