Udupi, Aug 14: Aboobakker Siddiq, a youth from Udupi’s Yermal had been working as a heavy driver at a company in industrial estate in Doha Qatar, along with six others. Due to non-payment of salary for more than three months and false absconding (huroob) case filed by his sponsor, Siddiq had to remain at his room for three months helplessly.
The case was pending in the court for his rightful dues. The sponsor was lambasted by the labour court for his violation of labour rules. But, due to increasing mental apprehension, ill-health and badly need for food, he sought the help and support from his compatriots and volunteers of India Fraternity Forum in Qatar.
It was social worker Nazeer Shirva, who first met Siddiq and provided him some financial help. Also, Qatar’s IFF Karnataka chapter’s chief Latheef Madikeri along with Abdul Jabbar Mulki, Saleem Ullal, Farooq Bolanthoor, Shareef Vagga and others provided assistance and help to Siddiq until her returned his homeland.
Except the financial help from his compatriots, Siddiq could not get nothing from his sponsor as he relinquished his dues with the intention of a immediate and safe return. Ansar Matpady also helped him. Siddiq, who reached his home town and united with his family on Sunday thanked all those who supported during his difficult days in Qatar.
