Mangaluru, Oct 22: The lack of discipline among Congress workers was evident when chief minister Siddaramaiah visited Dakshina Kannada on Sunday to inaugurate various projects in the coastal district.
A helpless Siddaramaiah had to push Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai and a few other party workers away when they blocked former’s way in their bid to welcome him at Mangaluru International Airport in the morning.
Mulky-Moodbidri MLA K Abhaychandra Jain and MLC Ivan D’Souaz also were caught on camera shoving each other apparently to get close to the CM when he landed at the Airport.
On the other hand, the police had to resort to mild baton charge to control the crowd during the inauguration of Mini Vidhana Saudha at B C Road.
When Siddaramaiah, in the presence of ministers U T Khader and B Ramanath Rai, cut the ribbon and entered the new building constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore, hundreds of Congress workers stormed the premises.
The rush was such that the main door of the building was damaged within a minute after the inauguration. Seeing the unruly crowd, fisheries minister Pramodh Madhwaraj hesitated to alight from his car.
According to sources, the chief minister has reportedly taken local leaders of the party to task for their uncivilized behaviour in the public.
