Mangalore, Nov 30: Ulamas and Umaras, who play a vital role in the development of the community, have been asked to act responsibly.
Udupi, Hasan, Chikmagalur and Dakshina Kannada Samyukta Jamath Khazi P M Ibrahim Musliar Bekal addressing the'Jamat representatives' convention' in Mangalore on Saturday said that the society will only benefit from wise Ulama and Umara.
“The Ulamas and the Umaras are respected and revered in the Muslim community. If these two bodies tread the wrong path then it will be detrimental to the community. Qazis, Madaris, Khateebs, Imams, Sadar, Muallim and others have to understand their responsibilities and duties and work towards awakening spiritual awareness among the people,” he said adding that it is very natural to have people affiliated to different political parties or views in one Jamath, but what is important is to see to it that differences between them do not cause problems. Efforts should be made to unite them under religious umbrella.
The Khazi said that the Masjids and Madarasas are in the clutches of Administrative Committees. In this connection he said that there should be no room for groupism.
He further said that arrangements must be made to conduct classes for women, youth and elderly separately.
Yenepoya University Chancellor Y Adbullah Kunhi said that in every Church there is a system of documenting the details of every family. He said that such a system must be started even in the Masjids.
“For this, Jamath survey must be conducted every year,” he said.
KMJC President Sayyed Fazal Koyamma Thangal Madani Al Bhukari presided over the programme.
