Bengaluru: Nov 28: To satisfy the angry party cadres who could not make it to the list of new heads of boards and corporations finalized by the chief minister recently, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has taken up the task of drawing a new list for the next term.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president G?Parameshwara have been flooded with representations from the party cadre, during the last two days, for being kept out of the nominations. The main complaint is that long-time party workers have been ignored, while several unknown people who have not worked for the party, have made it to the list.
Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara tried to downplay the unrest stating that maximum representation had been given for party workers in the nomination process. “Those who did not get a chance now, will get it when the 18-month tenure for the present batch ends. The process of drawing the second list will be completed by February next year,” he said.
Reeling out statistics, Parameshwara said nominations have been made to 93 boards, corporations and urban authorities. Of the 107 KPCC?office bearers, 20 have been appointed to head various boards and corporations. Representation has been given to district and block Congress leaders, he said.
There has been disappointment among those who have made it to the list too. Former youth Congress president V?S?Aradhya, who was appointed chairman of Karnataka Mango?Development Board, is understood to have opted out. The Board, it is learnt, is yet to have an office of its own.
Aradhya has sought posting as vice-chairman, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
