Uthappa, Tiwary named India A captains for Australia tour

Mumbai, Jun 11: Manoj Tiwary and Robin Uthappa were today named captains of India A squads to tour Australia next month.

The selection committee rewarded players for their performances in domestic circuit and also the Indian Premier League.

Youngsters like Manan Vohra, Sanju Samson and Akshar Patel are part of the squad. Manoj will lead India A in four-day matches will Robin is the skipper for one-dayers.

India A will play two 4-day matches against Australia A. In the Quadrangular One-Day series, India A will play against Australia A, South Africa A and Cricket Australia's National Performance Squad, BCCI said.

The tour, from July 6 to August 2, is part of an exchange programme that has been initiated by BCCI along with Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa to provide increased exposure to upcoming players and provide them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with and compete in overseas conditions.

Match schedule: July 6-9 v Aus A at Allan Border Field, Queensland; July 13-16 v Aus A at Allan Border Field, Queensland; July 20-Aug 2: Quadrangular 'ODI' series in Northern Territory (Marrara Oval and Gardens Oval).
