Mangalore, Feb 4: Two students of private medical college who were kidnapped by a gang who had forced them in to sexual act, have identified the accused during identity parade conducted at the District Jail recently.
Since the procedure was done discreetly, it is not known how the ID parade was done at the jail premises.
Sources said with this the police can proceed to file the charge sheet in the case. Sources also said that the victims were threatened by the accused with their body language during the parade, but there was no confirmation from the person who was present during this procedure.
The gang of eight members had kidnapped the students, filmed them in compromising position and blackmailed them to keep this under wraps. The gang had demanded Rs 25 lakh from the students and threatened to upload the same on the internet, social networking sites as well as inform their parents and the principal of the college where they studied.
The incident had happened on December 18 at 11pm. The accused allegedly abused the students and forcibly took them to a desolate house at a desolate place. Here, the accused directed the students to indulge in sexual act. When they refused, they were threatened with life.
