She occupies the post under Anglo Indian quota. She becomes a woman representing the community after four decades.
Ms Nero, who had worked as an official in a multi-national company for over three decades, had been offered the membership of the lower house by then Chief Minister S M Krishna way back in 2002.
'I will work for the betterment of my Anglo-Indian community and the people of Karnataka at large as the member of the august house,' Ms Nero said in her reaction after taking oath.
She, however, still works as an executive assistant with a US-based company.
A popular personality in the Anglo Indian community in the city Ms Nero thanked her husband Lawrence Kenneth Nero and her brothers for helping her in taking the plunge.
She started her carrier as sociologist and has an M Phil degree. She did research on the Anglo-Indian community which she calls a 'microscopic community'.
