Dharwad, Jan 17: Mallamma, wife of slain BJP leader Yogeeshgouda Goudar, filed a petition with the district superintendent of police on Monday, stating that she has been receiving anonymous threat letters. Mallamma urged police to provide security to her family as the letters warned her of dire consequences if she entered politics.
She has submitted the copies of the letter to police. DySP Chandrashekar said that the matter will be probed and suitable protection will be provided to the family.
Mallamma said that the family used to get anonymous threat letters even when Yogeeshgouda was alive. She has also produced more than 40 threat letters.
Yogeeshgouda represented Hebballi in the Dharwad zilla panchayat till his murder in Dharwad in July 2016. Mallamma contested the byelection as the BJP candidate but lost to the Congress nominee by just six votes.
