Mysuru, Mar 8: Cine actor Sumalatha, wife of former Mandya Parliament member and union minister Ambareesh said on Friday that she will wait for a Congress ticket be allotted to her till the last moment and if not, she may contest as an independent candidate from the Lok Sabha segment in the coming election.
Janata Dal(S), which had a sitting member from the segment in the Vokkaliga stronghold has already announced that chief minister Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy would contest the seat under understanding with coalition partner Congress party.
Sumalatha Ambareesh, who is getting ready for the Lok Sabha elections visited Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills here on Friday morning and offered special prayers.
Film personalities unlikely to rally behind Sumalatha
Film personalities in Karnataka, who were once very close to former Karnataka Minister late M H Ambhareesh , are not keen to rally behind his widow Sumalatha, if she chose to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from Mandya.
According to sources, Multi-lingual star, Sudeep, had made it a point not to campaign for Sumalatha despite Ambharish was one of his close family friend.
With Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy expressing his desire to field his son and film actor Nikhil from Mandya in the General election, some of the film personalities were in dilemma to extend their support to Sumalatha to avoid any kind of antognisng of the Chief minister.
