Mangaluru, Oct 6: In a fresh case of hooliganism by toll collectors, a woman suffered injuries when the staff of a toll booth at Brahmarakootlu, 20 km from Mangaluru, allegedly broke the glass of a car after the driver refused to pay toll.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon, when complainant Sadakat was travelling to the city in his personal car. The toll staff stopped him and demanded that he pay the toll, as the car was having Mangaluru registration (KA-19), but the driver refused to pay up, as he is exempted from toll charges.
When he moved his vehicle, the staff tried to stop him, and one of the employees at the toll booth allegedly damaged the windshield. Broken glass from the windshield caused eye injuries to Tajiya, who was in the car. She was taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Town police station and investigations are on.
