But on Friday, Yeddyurappa dropped enough hints that his party was ready for seat-sharing with the Congress for the Lok?Sabha polls.
The change in Yeddyurappa's stand is apparently due to the failure of the alliance experiment in the recent by-polls to the two Lok?Sabha and three Legislative Council seats. Besides, the KJP?leader is facing opposition from party MLAs on notching up an alliance with the BJP.
At a press conference in Bangalore, Yeddyurappa said no party was untouchable for the KJP?for an alliance ahead of the Lok?Sabha polls. Asked whether it included the Congress, the former chief minister reiterated, “No party is untouchable.”
To a question whether he still wished to see Narendra Modi as prime minister, Yeddyurappa said it was an internal matter of the BJP.
The KJP chief also downplayed the simmering discontent in the party following his decision for a tie-up with the BJP during by-polls.
Three MLAs who had opposed the alliance with the BJP-B?R?Patil,?Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli and Guru Patil Shiraval-did not attend the core committee meeting held earlier this week. “They were on tour. We are all united,” he said. Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa said the KJP would hold agitations in Bangalore and the district headquarters if the government fails to release grants for loans and interest waiver scheme for farmers by the first week of September.
Yeddyurappa accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of turning a blind eye to the problems being faced by the people. He demanded that the chief minister tour the state, visit drought-affected areas and also come out with a white paper on plan and non-plan expenditure.
