Bengaluru, Jun 26: Minorities Welfare and Wakf Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan had convened a meeting of the community leaders on Monday, in a bid to ascertain the demands of the Muslim community ahead of the budget.
Around 15 Muslim MLAs and MLCs from the JD(S) and Congress were present at the late evening meeting, which was held at a private hotel.
Before the meeting, Khan said he had sent out invitations to all Muslim leaders, cutting across party lines.
He said the objective of the meeting was to gather suggestions and feedback of the Muslim legislators, before he presented a wishlist during the pre-budget meeting with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on June 27. Senior leaders Roshan Baig and Tanveer Sait, who are miffed with the Congress for not being inducted into the Cabinet, gave the meeting a miss.
