Udupi, Jun 17: A college-going minor girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances near a temple in the forest area of Henberu village in Udupi district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Akshata Devadiga (17), daughter of Babu and Radha Devadiga residents of Henberu village. She was pursuing her II PU science at a junior college in Byndoor.
As usually, the girl had left for college in the morning from her house on Wednesday. It is said that she had reached college on time attended classes and left for home at around 4:30 p.m.
However, she did not reach home. Her relatives began a search for her and found the body near a small temple at Ottinene in the forest area.
The police reached the spot and began investigating the case.
K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, said that the girl’s body had been shifted to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal for post-mortem.
“Only after the post-mortem report, can the exact cause of death be ascertained,” he said.
A case has been registered at Byndoor Police Station.
