Congress leader DK Shivakumar is set to be sworn in as Karnataka’s Chief Minister on Tuesday, with senior Congress leader Dr G. Parameshwara expected to assume office as Deputy Chief Minister. While the final allocation of portfolios is yet to be announced, sources quoted by ANI indicate that a 14-member team is likely to form the core of the new cabinet.
Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Shivakumar hinted that 13 ministers would take oath alongside him, though he did not disclose further details, according to PTI.
The proposed cabinet features a blend of seasoned leaders and fresh faces, with most members having served in the previous Congress government. Among the notable inclusions is Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is expected to make his debut in the state cabinet.

Of those expected to take oath, all except UT Khader and Yathindra Siddaramaiah were members of the previous cabinet led by Siddaramaiah. Khader currently serves as Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, while Yathindra’s inclusion marks his first entry into the state cabinet.

Karnataka Cabinet Swearing-In Ceremony
The oath of office and secrecy will be administered by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at 4:05 pm at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan. The ceremony will formally usher in the new Congress government in the state, with portfolio allocations expected to follow soon after the cabinet is constituted.
Earlier in the day, Shivakumar greeted supporters gathered outside his Bengaluru residence. Party workers and well-wishers organised special prayers and celebratory events ahead of the ceremony that will see him assume Karnataka’s highest executive office.
The swearing-in is expected to be attended by the Congress party’s top leadership, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala. Several Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states are also likely to be present, highlighting the importance the party has attached to Shivakumar’s elevation.
