Mangalore, Apr 26: Several godmen or holy men in the country have been caught in compromising positions with women in video footages previously, with Swami Nithyananda's alleged controversial sex scandal fresh on people's minds.

The latest one to get caught by a television channel in a sex scandal is Ramaswami Devishree Guruji, a popular astrologer based in the state capital of Bangalore who would forecast the daily future of individuals on a private television channel.

On Saturday, a news channel telecasted explicit scenes of the holy man with a young woman in a footage which was obtained by the channel from a CCTV camera in his office.

A video that apparently shows Devishree Guru engaging in a sexual act with a young woman in his office at HSR Layout in the city, has been broadcasted since Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the astrologer has flown the coop.

TV cables cut

As several people gathered outside the astrologer's office demanding his arrest, news spread around that the television cables were dissembled in few localities such as Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar and surrounding areas. There is a suspicion that the cables may have been dissembled on purpose with the astrologer's influence to stop the telecasting of the news in those localities.

The Karnataka government has announced that Nandini milk will become ₹4 costlier per litre starting April 1, 2025. This is the second price hike this year.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Karnataka Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna and Animal Husbandry Minister K Venkatesh said the increase is meant to support dairy farmers by covering the rising costs of producing and processing milk.

Officials also said that:

>> The extra money from the price hike will go directly to the milk producers.

>> The earlier ₹2 price hike (announced on June 26, 2024) will be withdrawn.

>> The new price hike of ₹4 will apply to both 500 ml and 1-litre packets.
