Udupi, Dec 29: The district and sessions court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Rajeshwari, prime accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case.

T Venkatesh Naik, magistrate for the session court, Udupi, rejected the bail plea on the ground of grave nature of the crime.
M Shantaram Shetty, special public prosecutor said the bail plea was rejected based on the seriousness of the offence. She had committed the murder without any harassment and provocation from her husband.
Even though she is a woman, the offence committed is very grave in nature and it touches the health of the society and family structure has been damaged. This is the main reason for rejecting the plea.
Even if she approaches the high court, she is unlikely to get a bail, he added. The court of the additional chief judicial magistrate committed the Bhaskar Shetty murder case to the district and sessions court for further proceedings and trial on Tuesday.
The judicial custody of the three prime accused Rajeshwari Shetty, Navneeth Shetty, and Niranjan Bhat, will continue untill they receive summonses from the sessions court. After summonses, they will be produced in the sessions court from Mangaluru jail and the court will proceed with the inquiry and trial of the case.
Two other accused Srinivas Bhat, father of Niranjan Bhat and Raghavendra, driver of Niranjan Bhat, who was arrested for charges against destruction of evidence, had an agreement that they will appear before the sessions court, whenever they were summoned, he said.
