
Bangalore, Jul 17: Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah on Thursday praised the Muslim community for their zeal and efforts to fast for a month and pray for the welfare of mankind during Ramzan.
Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of an Iftar' programme organised by the state government at Palace Grounds here on Thursday, Mr Siddaramaiah said that it was admirable to see the entire Muslim community graciously fasting during Ramzan and beseeching the Almighty for peace.
He said that the Iftar Koota programme had been organised to convey good will and wishes to the entire Muslim population in the state. In a similar manner, the festival of Ugadi will also observed by the state government, he said.
Speaker of Legislative Assembly Kagodu Thimmappa, MLAs Ramalinga Reddy, R Roshan Baig, Qamar ul Islam, U T Khader, D K Shivakumar and Vinaykumar Sorake, former union minister K Rehman Khan, former minister H M Revanna, C A Ibrahim and others participated in the Iftar programme.
