Bengaluru, Jul 12: Dr Ronald Anil Fernandes, a senior journalist from Mangaluru, who was recently appointed as a member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), assumed office here today.
KPSC chairperson T Sham Bhat administered the oath of office to Dr Fernandes at Udyoga Soudha.
A recipient of prestigious Sarojini Naidu Award, the Media Academy Award, and the Dakshina Kannada District Rajyotsava Award, Dr Fernandes had been working for Deccan Herald for over two decades.
He resigned as the Mangaluru bureau chief of the English daily after he received the appointment order from Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala last week. He was also the president of Mangaluru Press Club for past three years.
Dr Farnandes is an alumnus of Mangalore University, from where he earned his master degree in mass communication and journalism. He obtained doctorate under the guidance of Prof. K V Nagaraj.
