Mangaluru, Aug 19: With an immaculate intention to develop the religious and cultural awareness and to encourage the hidden talents of the little children, city based Kalkura Prathisthana has been organising national level children's festival Shree Krishna Vesha Competition; for three decades.
S. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of the Prathisthana said that this year they will be organising Shri Krishna Vesha competition on August 24 (Wednesday) at Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple from 9.00 a.m. to 9 .00 p.m. Various computations will be held at eight different venues simultaneously and from 12 noon to 12 midnight various cultural programmes will be organized.
The competition will have 27 categories. This year with one new category, Sri Krishna Gana Vaibhava (4 categories) commence at 9.30a.m. in the temple premises. The competition venues are: Shri Krishna Janmamahothsava Samithi Main Stage, Abhishek Hall First Floor, Abhishek Hall Second Floor, Shri Ganapathi Temple, KalyanaMantap, Manjushri, near Kadri Kere Ashwathakatte.
KANDA KRISHNA : - for Tiny Tots, below one year. Parents can lead the child to thestage.
MUDDU KRISHNA : - for Toddlers of above 1 year and below 2 years. In this section, mothers are allowed to come on stage along with the participant.
THUNTA KRISHNA : For the toddlers of 2 year to 3 years
BALA KRISHNA : for the Kindergarden& LKG Kids
KISHORA KRISHNA : for the UKG & 1st Std Kids
SRI KRISHNA : for children from 2nd, 3rd & 4th Std
GEETHA KRISHNA : For students up to 7th Std (create Geethopadesha situation with costumes)
YAKSHAKRISHNA : In order to develop interest in Yakshagana the famous culture of
Dakshina Kannada District a special category of YAKSHAKRISHNA isadded (Thenku or Badagu) students up to X Std. can participate in this category. The participants have to wear Yakshagana costumes.
RADHA KRISHNA: The students upto VII Std could participate. (Pair)
YASHODA KRISHNA: In this category woman as Yashoda and any child as Krishna can participate with action( No age limit for woman & Child (krishna) upto12 years).
SHANKHANADA : With Traditional Costumes: For children up to 7th Std,
SHANKHAUDGOSHA : with Traditional Costumes -For children above 7th Std and open to all
DEVAKI KRISHNA : Mother (our previous participants) as Devaki, Child as Krishna can participate
VASUDEVA KRISHNA : (Open to All) -Any men with traditional costumes as Vasudeva and
kid as Krishna can act (No age limit & plastic baskets not allowed) Woman can act as Vasudeva with men costume.
NANDA GOKULA: Episode Preentation of Lord Krishna's Life by Group (minimum 5 members) no age limit.
BALA KRISHNA QUIZ COMPETITION : Above VII Std. (The quiz questions will released on the spot)
SRI KRISHNA QUIZ COMPETITION : Above VII Std. (The quiz questions will released on the spot)
KRISHNA PHOTOGRAPHY : Interested participants should attend with costume of Krishna with attractive pose at the stage in Temple premises.
SRI KRISHNA VARNA VAIBHAVA DRAWING COMPETITION : This will be conducted in 5 Categories. Shishu, Bala, Kishora, Taruna and open to all. Present with all things required at 9.30 a.m
SRI KRISHNA GanaVAIBHAVA: Singing Competition : This will be conducted in 5 Categories. Shishu, Bala, Kishora, Taruna.Present with all things required at10 am.
In this religious festival conducted under the auspices of Kalkura Pratishthana, every participating child will be honoured with an idol of Udupi Kadagolu Krishna, made of Panchaloha along with books relating story of Sri Krishna, certificate, photo of Kadri Sri Manjunatha & prizes sponsored by sponsors with an attractive cloth bag. SHRIMAD BHAGAVATHGEETHA's book will be given for all the participants.
Prizes for all section winners with the above said gifts first, second and third prizes will be given. Institution with maximum participants will be recognised with a special prize. There is no any entry fee.
Highlights
*On the day of the competition, at 3.30 p.m. exclusive arrangement has been made for the group photo session of the participants in their Krishna Vesha costumes in front of the light house of the temple for press/TV media coverage.
* Special encouragement will be given special children and mentally challenged children and organisation connected with these categories.
* Hot Milk, Pedha and Ice Cream will be distributed only to competing children.
* Parents may get their children with costume and make up at their homes or may arrange at the spot (at their own expenses).
* Expert professional Photographs will be present on the occasion and Parents may arrange for photographs (at their own expenses)
This year's speciality
* Total 27 categories computations held at 8 venues simultaneously.
* Sri Krishna GanaVaibhava Singing Competition: conducted in 4 categories. Shishu, Bala, Kishora, Taruna and open to all.Present with all things required at9.am.
* For Quiz Competition participants more than 150 daily pooja or traditional pooja items Shanka, Jagate, silver tulasimanisara, abhishekashanka, mudre, tala, aarathi, deepaetc as prize will be given.
* After Night 12 O' Clock the poojaprasada (laddu&chakkulies) is distributed only for children. Arghyapradhana is open to public
This festival with a history of two and half decades has been appreciated by national level. KalkuraPrathisthana is specially proud and happy that a number of similar competitions have come up all over the region, State and the country, takes over festival as a model to emulate.
