Mangalore, July 8: The nature of fine arts is such that they overlap each other. One can find painting in poetry and poetry in paintings, said Gulzar, legendary poet and lyricist.
He was expressing his thoughts after inaugurating a painting exhibition of artist Wilson J P D'Souza at Orchid Art Gallery in Mangalore.
Mr. Gulzar said that he agreed to inaugurate the exhibition because he likes looking at pieces of art as sources of learning. “I have been trying to learn the expressions of the artist which I try to implement in my own medium that is poetry”, he said.
Commenting on the theme of the exhibition 'Rendezvous with Feminine', Giselle Mehta, writer, said that women have been an inspiration for artists for long. Some Renaissance painters have given art lovers some exquisite madonnas she said. A good painting must possess a blend of several things. If it is too realistic, it fails to trigger the imagination of the looker, she observed.
Mr. D'Souza presented Mr. Gulzar with a painting on the occasion. Ms. Mehta too presented a copy of her debut novel 'Blossom Showers' to the veteran poet.
