Mangalore, Dec 26: A B Ibrahim, former managing director of Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Corporation Ltd, Mysore, officially took charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district here on Thursday.
Returning to serve in the coastal district after a period of 14 years, he said that he would foremost turn his attention to Mangalore City Corporation, as the civic body was functioning without an administrator from the past year.
Mr Ibrahim had served as Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation from 1997 to 1999.
Accepting the charge in the presence of MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, Mr Ibrahim said that he would try to reach up to the expectations of the people with sincerity.
He told reporters that he would convene a meeting with district officials today in the presence of district-in-charge minister and other elected representatives to discuss the problems of the district.
He also said that he would give priority to the suggestions and advice given by the elected representatives of the region.
Assistant Deputy Commissioner K Dayanand, Mangalore Tahsildar Mohan Rao, assistant commissioner Dr Prashanth and Deputy Director of Land Records Kusumadhar were present on the occasion.
N Prakash served as the Deputy Commissioner of the district before passing the baton to A B Ibrahim.
