Bengaluru, May 17: History-sheeter V?Nagaraj, who was recently arrested in the cash seizure case, has reportedly earned about Rs 50 crore after demonetisation by charging commission for exchanging banned notes and through extortion.

The police have decided to persuade victims to lodge complaints against Nagaraj so that they can build a strong case against him. “He claimed he earned around Rs 50 crore by commissions and extortion. He also said he planned to use the money for the next Assembly elections,” the officer added.
Nagaraj’s sons Gandhi and Shastri have been lodged in separate cells.? He requested the police to let him stay with is sons saying he was an “MLA?candidate”. He alleged that some people were stalling his bid to become an MLA.?He compared himself to Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi as he helped the poor.?
He collected money from the rich and distributed it among the poor, which gave him contentment, he said. He said he would become an MLA and ensure that his constituency, which has many poor people, will not see poverty, he told the police.
Nagaraj reportedly pleaded with senior officers not to block his bid to become an MLA. Nagaraj escaped with his sons after the police raided his Srirampuram house on April 14 and recovered Rs 14.80 crore in demonetised notes. After almost a month, the three were arrested on May 11 from Tamil Nadu.
