Mangaluru, Jun 21: On his visit to the coastal city of Mangaluru on Sunday, Supreme Court judge Justice Gopala Gowda paid visits to the District Prison and District Wenlock Hospital here and interacted with some of the inmates and doctors.
Justice Gopala Gowda interacted with few doctors and took a round of the district Wenlock government hospital, asking several questions about the facilities, treatment and care provided to the in-patients at the hospital.
Accompanied by district surgeon Dr Rajeshwari Devi and senior civil judges, he visited the intensive care unit, high dependency unit, in-patient wards, operation theatre, dialysis unit, speciality clinics and neo-natal and paediatric ICU.
Impressed by the maintenance of the various units and existing facilities at the government hospital, he lauded the service and care rendered by the doctors, nurses and staff members to the patients and also praised the cleanliness of the wards and units.
Justice Gopala also interacted with a couple of jail inmates named Basheer and Harish, housed inside the jail ward in the hospital.
During his visit to the district prison, he inspected the different cells housing undertrials and spoke to few inmates on the occasion.
