The memorandum to the minister stated out that Air India Express had halted its Kuwait-Mangalore direct flight service from February 2014 onwards citing feeble reasons such as load factor and lack of leased aircrafts.
In the memorandum, chief coordinator of the association Hasan Yusuf pointed out that Kuwait was the only country in the Middle East that did not have a direct flight to Mangalore.
Presently, over 1,30,000 Kuwait-bound passengers from Mangalore are put through untold hardships as their flying time had increased, thus increasing their inconvenience.
Families with aged persons and children have to transit through Mumbai or Bangalore due to the cancellation of the direct flight services, the memorandum stated, requesting the intervention of the aviation ministry in commencing the flight services in the sector.
The memorandum was submitted to the union minister through the airport director of Mangalore International Airport.
