Gangavathi, Dec 12: Over a dozen people including a senior police officer and a journalist were injured during a communal clash at Gangavathi town in Koppal district on the eve of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
Two autorickshaws, as many goods vehicles and a bike were destroyed after miscreants set them on fire. The police clamped prohibitory orders in the town following the violence. Additional forces have been deployed and situation continues to be tense, the police said.
DySP S?M?Sandigwad, television journalist Venkatesh Hosalli and a local Muslim leader Yusuf Qadri were among the injured.
The condition of Hosalli and Shivakumar and K?Pampapathi, who were also injured in the violence, is said to be serious.
The violence broke out over tying some flags atop a few houses at Gundamma camp on the occasion of Hanuma Jayanthi and Eid Milad. Situation turned tense as youths from the two communities had an argument.
A few minutes later, a few unknown men, who had masked their faces, threw stones at a masjid at Alfia Circle and fled the scene.
As the news of stone- throwing spread, members of the Muslim community held a meeting at a mosque. Meanwhile, some youths attacked the Yajnavalkya temple and thrashed a few devotees, the police said.
Following the attack on the devotees, a group of youths brandishing lethal weapons stoned the residence of local MLA Iqbal Ansari's personal assistant S?M?Qadri.
Later, Muslim youths set a tyre on fire in front of the police station and staged a protest, seeking action against the attackers. A?group of Hindu youths also burnt a tyre at Pampa Circle, demanding action against those who had attacked the devotees at the temple.
Koppal Superintendent of Police Thyagarajan rushed to spot and was monitoring the situation when the reports last came in.

I heard that after the Celebration of Eid Miladunnabi (saws) no body are there for the Salah/Prayer /Namaz in Masjid, still I am in confusion about your Love of Prophet (saws) you never thing this type of Love will make you happy/ help in the hereafter.

Because of this Non islamic event people are suffering. Muslims should not do this kind of Bidaath.
if they had not thrown stone on mosque, temple and devotees wouldn't have been disturbed.....tit for tat attitude is not good....Muslims should refrain from it....

We Indians are appreated all over the world but some black sheep in every communitiy and their so called coward leaders make use of every possible effort to creat communal clash and encash the political gain out of this...
Why not police use Goonda act on those who initiate these....
