Mangaluru: A young man who was eagerly preparing to inaugurate his new garment shop died after suffering an electric shock inside the same shop at Thokkottu late Sunday night, in a heartbreaking incident that has left family and locals in shock.
The deceased has been identified as Salman Faris (20), a native of Pajiru Bengodi Padavu and currently residing at Shivanagar in Pandeshwar, Mangaluru.
Salman had recently set up a garment store at a commercial complex in Thokkottu and was looking forward to its inauguration scheduled for this Friday. As part of the final preparations, interior and electrical works were progressing inside the shop on Sunday night.
According to reports, electrical connection work and other finishing tasks were underway at a brisk pace when the incident occurred. At around 1.30 am, Salman suddenly suffered an electric shock while inside the shop.
Workers present at the premises immediately rushed him in an autorickshaw to a private hospital in Deralakatte. However, he is believed to have succumbed to the shock on the way, before he could receive medical treatment.
The tragic incident occurred at the very place that symbolised his dreams and hard work, turning what was meant to be a joyful beginning into a moment of grief for his family and friends.
Police from Ullal station visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Further investigation is underway.
