A confidential FBI document from 2020, included in the recently released Epstein files, contains explosive allegations claiming that disgraced financier and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein was trained as an intelligence asset, allegedly linked to Israeli intelligence circles.
The document, classified by the FBI as a Confidential Human Source (CHS) report, was originally compiled as part of an inquiry into “improper domestic or foreign influence over the US electoral process”. However, the source went on to make a series of broader claims involving Epstein’s global connections.
According to the report, the source alleged that Epstein had been “co-opted” as a Mossad agent and claimed that former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak was aware of, and connected to, Epstein’s activities. The informant further alleged that Barak privately regarded current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “criminal”, and that discussions about Epstein intensified before the source became convinced of his intelligence links.
The document also claims that the source listened to phone calls between Epstein and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, during which notes were taken and later relayed to Israel’s foreign intelligence agency. The source further alleged that Dershowitz told another US attorney that “Epstein belonged to both US and allied intelligence services”.
The unnamed informant—who appears only once in the Epstein files under a unique source identification number—also made the unverified claim that Dershowitz himself had been co-opted by Mossad.
Dershowitz, a polarising legal figure and longtime associate of Netanyahu, has represented several high-profile clients over the years, including Epstein, Harvey Weinstein and former US President Donald Trump.
Beyond intelligence allegations, the source also raised suspicions about Day One Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm founded by Masha Bucher, a former Epstein publicist. The source alleged that the firm was operating in the US to “steal technology” and claimed Bucher was “Vladimir Putin’s main contact in the Russian youth movement”—assertions for which no evidence is provided in the document.
The report further points to what it describes as long-standing ties between the Kushner family and Israel, naming Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and former aide, as well as his father Charles Kushner. The source alleged “deep ties” and a history of corrupt business practices, though no details were elaborated.
Separately released documents confirm that Epstein and Ehud Barak maintained a long-running personal and professional relationship. Records show Epstein advising Barak on the data analytics firm Palantir, lobbying him to help secure a job for former UK minister Peter Mandelson, and discussing “massive” consultancy fees for former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Responding to the controversy, Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed suggestions of Israeli intelligence involvement. In a post on X, he said Epstein’s association with Barak did not indicate any link to Israel.
“Jeffrey Epstein’s unusual close relationship with Ehud Barak doesn’t suggest Epstein worked for Israel. It proves the opposite,” Netanyahu wrote, accusing Barak of working with the “anti-Zionist radical left” to undermine Israel’s elected government.
While the FBI document records allegations rather than verified conclusions, the revelations have reignited debate over Epstein’s extraordinary access to political leaders, intelligence-linked figures and global power brokers, deepening the mystery surrounding how a convicted sex offender moved so freely at the highest levels of power.
