Mangaluru is all set to enter the future of aviation with its first DGCA-approved drone training academy. The Aerodynamiks Drone Training Academy will be inaugurated on April 14 at Alva’s College in Moodubidire.
Established by Aerodynamiks Aviation Pvt Ltd, the academy will operate as a modern Remote Pilot Training Organisation, offering specialised training in drone operations, aerial technology, and unmanned aviation systems.
Addressing reporters, Managing Director Devirprasad Shetty said this is the first DGCA-approved facility of its kind in the region. He noted that the initiative aims to meet the growing demand for skilled and certified drone pilots in India’s rapidly expanding drone sector.
The academy will provide professional training in line with DGCA guidelines, including hands-on flying sessions with advanced drones, certification programmes, and career guidance. Training will cover drones weighing between 250 grams and 25 kg.
Highlighting the rising demand, Shetty said drones are now widely used in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, surveillance, photography, disaster management, logistics, and defence — creating a strong need for trained professionals.
“Our goal is to build a centre of excellence that prepares students for the future of aviation technology. Through this academy, we aim to develop skilled, responsible, and certified drone professionals,” he said.
The training programme will be completed in less than 10 days. Successful candidates will receive a DGCA licence, which is mandatory for operating drones in the specified category.
The launch is expected to significantly boost drone education and skill development in coastal Karnataka, opening up new career opportunities for youth in the fast-growing unmanned aviation sector.
