Institute of a different genre: AIMIT, Beeri

Recently I had been to St Aloysius Management Institute, and as I made my entry through the tall gates, I was dazzled in a state of semi-shock. For a moment, I thought I was at some theme park kind-of museum art gallery. But coming to terms viewing a college I had never seen before, took awhile. It was a structure not easily matched. There was something different, yet some resemblance was cited. For reasons I never understood it looked like the campus at Mangalore. To explore the unexplored, I went to meet the director of the college, & raised a series of questions in my mind regarding this college & campus. Indeed Fr Denzil Lobo, Director AIMIT, had a lot to tell. Truly, he is the man behind this mega- structure. He is known to relish challenges and is liked much by the student community too. Moreover his commitment to unprecedented excellence is evident in every detail.
AIMIT is a new baby of the rich legacy of St Aloysius College grown at a 17 acre land at Beeri, Kotekar. AIMIT is 10km from Mangalore away from noise and dust, amidst the trees. It’s an ideal place for students to study and flourish in peace. AIMIT is managed by the Society of Jesuits, Karnataka Province, India.
Declared ‘Autonomous’ by the Government of India, the legacy of 130 years of St Aloysius High School building still reverberates in the admin building of the new campus which is patterned by the classical architecture of it.
The Academic block is spacious and includes AC lecture halls and faculty rooms, well equipped classrooms. The same block also includes 6 large AC Computer laboratories and AC Reading rooms.
Excellent Residential facilities on campus is provided and numerous co-curricular activities keep going on like epitome, verve, ACME, Manasamanthana, Anveeksha, Art beat etc.
On asking the Director, what his zeal is, he says, “Although the Motto is: “LUCET ET ARDET” which means one should shine and be the best intellectually, we want our students to BURN with the desire to serve the less fortunate brethren of our country as patrons of the College. St Aloysius did when he served plague stricken people in Italy 500 years back. Not only this, we want them to be world beaters in the zone of leadership and beyond.

Today AIMIT offers all those post graduate-courses which come under the Management and IT banner, like MBA,MCA,MS (SOFTWARE TECH),MSc (BIO-INFORMATICS).
On a round of opinion polls, I was surprised to note not even a single student had anything bad to tell.
Jyothsna, a student of MS( software tech) says, “ the college is really excellent in regard to lab facilities, lecturers-student friendly, wi-fi, infrastructure, library facilities etc…. I would rate it 8.5/10.
Sujith, an MBA student says, “one of the highlights of the MBA programme is the rural experience where we get to visit remote places, stay with families & feel the life in a rural set-up. It helps us to do some research on SHG (self help group), microfinancing & rural marketing. Moreover, it is truly a wonderful experience & memorable encounter which will be etched forever in our memories. I must say we are the fortunate ones to be here.”
Amritha, another MS (software tech) student says, “Library is open till late at night, which makes a good ambience to study. There is a laptop lab & many more. Campus placement is an added advantage & we just enjoy reading in the AC gallery rooms.
Ramya, MBA student says, “Gavel club activities has helped us to be excellent speakers & has trained us beautifully towards public speaking.
Ashish MBA student says, “ along with studies, the paintings donated by Mr Max Raquinha- Houston, has changed the face of the academic block making it a virtual art gallery, we don’t feel we are coming to college. Everyday looks new.”
Victor Paes, New Jersey says, “Every alumnus who comes to the new campus is surprised to see the magnificent building which takes them down the memory lanes of the old campus on light house road.”
AIMIT is an ultra sizzling inspiring citadel where knowledge reverberates in its corridors, wisdom lies embedded in every stone; where tranquility and gaiety frolic hand in hand in sylvan surroundings.
Well wishers and admirers keep providing financial support because to run an institute of this magnitude needs the larger well being and goodwill of all. AIMIT is the place to be if you want to excel in the area of Management and IT. I can’t recommend it more highly.
Giving a final description to AIMIT, I say it has
“Age old values, newer necessities, Perfect balance, no inequities. Never rigid, ever dynamic, always reverence, never rhetoric. “
Its time to leave, but I will keep coming back although I am not an alumnus of St Aloysius College, my heart and mind is always Aloysian. I would wish this college, many sweet victories in years to come. The Campus, the facilities given to the student community, the exuberance in the air and the liveliness, is beyond anyone has ever bargained for.
May their tribes flourish !

I am an Aloysian since 5 years and currently persuing my masters in AIMIT. AIMIT is one of the best colleges in Mangalore with good hostel facilities,A/C labs, good faculty and not to forget a beautiful campus. Thanks to Fr. Denzil for providing us with such good facilities. Hence the things mentioned in that comment just doesnt come out of my experience in AIMIT.
One sincere request to whoever posted the comment: please do not spoil the reputation of such good Institute by telling something which is just not true.
we have introduced Choice-based Credit System and two extra specializations - Banking and International Business (apart from HR; Finance and Marketing).
We achieved higher placements - both in terms of percentage and average pay package, compared to any other Autonomous College in Karnataka (leaving alone affiliated colleges, where placements are abysmally low)
We are introducing Foreign language courses as add-on courses
We are proud to say that our students are different - in terms of the inputs both theory, practicals, IT skills and usage of software packages for data analysis. Though they find the programme tough, when they are in the campus, they will realize their uniqueness, when they meet their cohorts, from other Institutions, at their workplaces.
As Fr Denzil often quotes, this is only the beginning. We have miles to go and we have lot to achieve.
Thanks for the good words about AIMIT
MBA is a strenuous program with a lot of assignments, presentations, projects and team work. If one wants to get something out of the program one has to go through this kind of hardship and sleepless nights. Our program is not as demanding as IIMS and XLRIs. …and I wish it becomes much more like the one offered by premier institutions. It’s possible that you have made a wrong choice. But please note , if you want to be the best, then there is no way out. Go through the program, try to do your best..and I am sure you will really feel good once you have completed the MBA at AIMIT.
I have always noticed, it is those who criticized a lot during the stay at AIMIT/AIBA are the ones who come back and say that they should have listened to my words of advice and done much more than they did during the course of their studies.
As for the hostel. I do not know what you do not like. The facilities offered are the very best. Food- you cannot expect the best when you pay Rs 1,300 per month for the non-veg. I am sure with the change of management of the food court, you will be able to get good food this year.
And sir please dont load us with too many assignments... We are reallt bugged up of the college and its environmeyt and also faculties. just frustrated being here at this dirty place
Just wanna get out of the college asap..:( :( :(

i am sure , u have not stayed in any hostel b4.
go for a survey & u will realize what hostels are like.
u can get a hostel room, not a 5- star AC hotel rite?
think in this regard buddy?
bugged of college?? well any normal student is. even i hate college , but to reach a peak, u need to suffer?
environment is eco-friendly, cant blame environ?
when u blame sumting, it means the fault lies within u,examine yourself.u cant blame india the way it is, coz the people like you & me are like this. we need to change, evole u will get out of college one day to realize , u missed those days.
do come back to me that time. even now, would you not agree buddy?

AIMIT is a beautiful campus located in the serene outskirts of Mangalore. It stands out with its eloquent halls, museums and picturesque art gallery, altogether with its inspiring wordings for students, on its hallways. It is bound to drive its hardworking and focused students to excel in the various academic programs housed by it.
AIMIT is indeed a home to state of the art technology and great study environment for students for learning and research, led by its honorable director, Fr. Denzil, and its esteemed faculty.
