Dammam: A tragic incident has claimed the life of a young Indian expatriate from coastal Karnataka in Saudi Arabia after he collapsed while playing basketball during a school tournament, according to reports.
Mohammad Rayyan (16), a Plus One (Grade 11) student and a native of Kottebagilu in Moodbidri, Dakshina Kannada, was participating in a CBSE zonal-level basketball competition.
He was representing Al Munna International School, Dammam, when he suddenly collapsed on the court mid-game.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and admitted to the emergency department. Despite prompt medical attention, doctors declared him dead.
Rayyan is survived by his parents, Mohammad Riyas and Shameena Riyas. His body has been kept at the mortuary of Dammam Central Hospital.
The sudden demise of the teenager has left the community in deep shock and grief.
