Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has appointed the Deputy Chief Minister and Cabinet ministers as in-charge ministers for districts across the state to oversee disaster management and relief operations during the ongoing monsoon season.

The order, which takes immediate effect until further notice, aims to strengthen coordination between the state government and district administrations in dealing with rain-related emergencies, relief work, and precautionary measures.

According to the government, the decision has been taken to ensure closer monitoring of the situation on the ground and to facilitate swift response to natural calamities during the monsoon.

The designated ministers will supervise disaster management efforts, review preparedness measures, lead emergency meetings, and monitor relief and rehabilitation activities in their assigned districts.

The district-wise allocation is as follows:

Dr G. Parameshwara – Tumakuru and Chitradurga

K. H. Muniyappa – Bengaluru Rural, Ballari and Vijayanagara

Ramalinga Reddy – Bengaluru South and Mandya

M. B. Patil – Vijayapura and Bagalkote

K. J. George – Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Davanagere

Krishna Byre Gowda – Bengaluru Urban and Hassan

Eshwar Khandre – Bidar and Gadag

Satish Jarkiholi – Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri

Priyank Kharge – Kalaburagi and Yadgir

Dr Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil – Raichur and Koppal

U. T. Khader Fareed – Udupi, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada

Byrathi Suresh – Kolar and Chikkaballapur

Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah – Mysuru and Chamarajanagar

The government said the appointed ministers will closely coordinate with district authorities, assess the impact of heavy rainfall and flooding wherever necessary, and ensure that relief measures reach affected people without delay.

The move comes as Karnataka continues to witness monsoon-related challenges in several regions, prompting the government to place senior ministers in charge of districts for more effective monitoring and quicker decision-making during emergencies.
