Udupi, July 29: Kota Police have registered a case against a man for allegedly obstructing a Booth Level Officer (BLO) from performing her official duties, verbally abusing her, and threatening to kill her during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

The complainant, Amita (50), is an Anganwadi worker serving as a Booth Level Officer and is currently engaged in the SIR exercise. She is a resident of Shiriyara village in Brahmavar.

According to the complaint, the incident took place at the Village Administrative Officer’s office in Shiriyara, where Amita was carrying out official work.

Police said the accused, identified as Sudheendra Shetty, allegedly entered the office and demanded to see the list prepared for the inclusion and deletion of names in the electoral rolls. He reportedly questioned why the name of Chandrashekara Shetty alias Sheenappa Shetty of Nayakara Mane had been proposed for deletion and asked who had authorised the move.

The complaint further alleges that Sudheendra abused the BLO in foul language, snatched and pulled the SIR-related records and documents she was handling, obstructed her from discharging her official duties, and threatened to kill her.

Based on the complaint, Kota Police have registered a case under Sections 132, 74, 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigation is underway.
