Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Monday claimed that 25 Congress MLAs, including ministers, would leave the party and join the BJP if elections were held in the state in the near future.
“If elections happen at any point in time in the state, 25 MLAs, including members of Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s Cabinet, will leave the Congress and join the BJP. Such a political atmosphere has been created,” Vijayendra told reporters.
He also criticised the Congress-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc over its attempt to seek an appointment with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.
Referring to the Supreme Court proceedings on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Vijayendra said the Congress should not seek an appointment with the Chief Justice while the matter was being heard by the court.
“When the SIR issue is being heard in the Supreme Court, it doesn’t bring grace to the Congress to seek an appointment with the CJI. The Congress is trying to create anarchy in the country. That party is frustrated,” he alleged.
